Historical background

Considering the deplorable socio-economic and environmental problems such as high unemployment rate plaguing especially the youths, abject poverty, illiteracy and environmental degradation, a group of dynamic young men and women came together and initiated a development programme aimed at combating the above problems. The development initiative was named: Centre for Community Development and Environmental Restoration (CENCUDER).

Date and Creation: Centre for Community Development and Environmental Restoration (CENCUDER) was created on the 20th September, 2008 as an informal voluntary group. It was later constituted and given a legal status with Registration number:136/AR/G.42/162/AJPAS as non political, not for profit and non governmental development organization (NGO). The organization is constituted into 3 main organs. The General Assembly (Supreme Organ), The Board (the directing organ) and the coordination/ secretariat.

We envision an equitable world for all and a society where people don’t discriminate on the basis of nationality, sex, religion, race or colour.We also seek to promote the health and well-being of the planet – its people and its natural environment – by achieving gender equality, protecting the earth’s biodiversity and making cities livable

Mission Statement

To enable especially marginalized children and women (main target group) acquire survival skills in order to secure a better future for themselves through education & training on life and vocational skills.

 

Goal

To empower especially vulnerable children and women (main target group) through education and information dissemination for the struggle and fight against unemployment, poverty and environmental destruction.

 

Objectives

  • To carry out sustainable agricultural activities with youths and women’s groups.
  • To undertake activities geared towards the protection of the forest and its natural resources.
  • To carry out community development projects in schools and communities.
  • To establish a multipurpose vocational skills training unit which will equip especially marginalized youths and women with knowledge and skills for employability and self-reliance.
  • To wage a sustained campaign against the spread of Cholera, Malaria , HIV/AIDS and other STIs
  • Campaign for education for all

Areas of intervention

Education and information dissemination

  • Construction and Rehabilitation of schools  and hospitals in rural areas
  • Supply of school furniture (benches, tables and chairs) to needy schools
  • Establish education assistance programme for the needy through feeding programs in schools.
  • Organize campaigns against the spread of HIV/AIDS, violence against women, human rights, drug abuse and Alcoholism.
  • Promotion of democracy and good governance in schools
  • Training on computer literacy and how to use the Internet
